I think they have them to make money and convince dubs that something really big is going on and they are a part of it. No one else cares.

looking back and knowing it is not gods organization raises.

What do Stephen King and a Bethelite have in common? They both tell a great horror story. Please continue with part III. I do enjoy scary stories.
As for couples not being allowed to have children at Bethel that seems strange to me. Couldn't they have used the child labor? They just weren't thinking right on that one.

I'm not sure I understand those who deny that it happened because it is always said by those that seem to hate Jews. So is this what they are saying? I don't believe it ever happened but I think it was a good idea. I think it is an attempt to rewrite history for future generations. Right now there are living survivors who were either put in the camps or saw them. My father-in-law was an officer in WWII and went through one of them. I have met others who have done the same thing. There are living survivors even amongst JWs who were a very small group compared to others that were put in them. But these people are dying off and soon it will be easier to make believe it never happened.

Once they inform them of that they take off. It makes me feel good to know that somewhere out there a JW is beating a hasty retreat because of me.

A Letter from a disfellowshipped JW
by reneeisorym inthere was a disfellowshipped jw that came to the witness now for jesus convention in pennsylvania.
we all tried to show him the error of the jw way but he is just so blinded that he couldn't understand what the problem is with jws (can you believe it?!
) we tried until we were blue in the face and it seemed that with every step we went forward with him one day, we went back two the next.

There is only one way that the world will be repaired. That is by having those who do what is right, no matter how hard it is who demonstrated this while on earth. Even when it means that we might be married to someone who is cruel, dishonest or whatever. Yes, even beatings.
This person said a lot of strange things but the above is one I found interesting. I think his ideal woman is one that can take getting the crapped kicked out of her and still show up at the meetings and comment on the happy family lives of Jehovah's people.
I understand you wanted to help him but I think you need to set the meter on your weirdo detector a little lower.

JW Membership will Self Destruct in...5...4...3...2...
by LovesDubs inthink about it...if only the kids of baptized members are getting baptized all we have to do is sit back and wait and the organization will cease to exist on its own!
the numbers of "young ones" splitting from the cult and never looking back are greatly increasing so you can count out their offspring ever becoming members.
the ones that stay and stick and are loyal wont be "having children in this time of the end" very much...and the chances of those offsprings offspring sticking are remote as well.. so...if you deprive a fire of oxygen.

I hope you are right but some cults have a remarkable ability to survive. They may somehow be able to reinvent themselves, come up with a new hook and keep on culting. They are probably night burning the midnight oil trying to come up with new gimmick to suck people in. They still have a huge unpaid sales force to distribute anything they come up with.

It's my party - Should we invite them?
by Nellie ini've got extended family that live out of state who are active witnesses and my husband's father is an elder.
my family is so not a part of our lives, that the only time we speak are for funerals.
i don't even hear about births anymore.

I agree with Elsewhere. Invite them but tell them Jehovah has to wait for them outside in the car. If you don't think they can come without trying to ruin a meaningful event like you 25th then don't invite them. And Happy Anniversary!!

Changing your diet - meat, dairy, sugar
by Pleasuredome ini have just finished reading 'confessions of a kamikaze cowboy' by dirk benedict.
in the book he talks about how 'macrobiotics' (exclusion of meat, sugar, dairy among others) helped improve his health and fight cancer.
a lot of what he says about food resonates with me, so im curious.

Good subject. Years ago when my wife was undergoing chemo I tried to put her on a macrobiotic diet. The problem was she couldn't eat the crap (sorry food). The only food that tasted good to her and she could keep down was junk food so that is what she ate. Anyway this discussion is timely for me. This morning I decided to start eating right again. I went to Whole Foods market and bought a lot of healthier foods. What I find works best for my wife and myself is a Mediterian diet. We enjoy the food so we can stay on it.
I think we can have some influence on our health however I feel some of it is hereditary. My wife's grandfather only died when he had an accident at 89 and he smoked all the time. His children are all living a long time however his grandchild aren't all that healthy so who knows. I'm also thinking of a friend I had when I was a JW who was a surfer and a rock climber, always took care of himself, always thin. He died a few years ago at about age 50 when his heart gave out.
Another thing I wonder about is when people speak about all the diseases we have today being caused by the food we eat and that people didn't have these diseases in the past. Keep in mind that in the past most people didn't live long enough to get the diseases that show up when we get to middle age. They were already dead by the time they reached what we call middle age today.
Steath453 I find your comment very interesting. A while back on the radio I heard a PH.D. Seth Roberts speaking about something similar. He says he has lost weigh by drinking virgin olive oil or sugar water. He has a book on the subject: "The Shangri-La Diet". Anyway he says it has to do with calories that trigger taste. If you take in calories that don't trigger taste then you are satisfied. Anyway thanks for reminding me. I'm going to try it this week and see how it works.
